Gloves and Ear Muff Weather!!

What a difference two days makes! Wow—from 61° to 47° at noon today. We had rain this morning and clouds that lasted into the late afternoon. It certainly has made our minds turn towards Florida, sunshine and warmer weather.

A nearby neighborhood has a tradition of displaying characters from the nativity scene around their pond. The scene is lit at night with flood lights and the individuals are periodically moved around the pond all through the season of Advent. On Christmas Eve, they arrive at the stable.

Ducks and Canada geese seemed quite at home at the pond today.

We continue to leisurely make preparations to leave our house. The Christmas tree has been taken down and stored.

Our priorities for packing for a warm weather sojourn have changed now that we are much older. Swim suits and related items used to be the most important things we assembled first.

Now, we make sure to gather ice packs, a heating pad, pain killers, electric massager; TENS unit and diabetic testing supplies. Some of our friends will certainly relate to this.

When Cordell and I took a walk after lunch, we found ourselves imagining we were walking the streets around our condo at Crown Colony. It won’t be long now!!

Thinking of Florida

Well, it is two days after Christmas and it sure did not feel like December weather today. At noon, the temperature was 61° and we were running errands in shirt sleeves.

But, it is all relative because Brian, our Fort Myers friend, informed us that they were expecting temps to reach 85° today.

We will not be checking in to our condo until January 8th, but I have begun assembling clothing and other items that I want to take with me.

A variety of clothes will be needed—long pants & shorts—casual wear and church clothes.

Since we usually spend three nights on the road, we are each packing a small bag to drag in and out of the hotels. A larger bag which contains all the other clothes will stay in the car until we arrive at the condo. Cordell did not leave a drawer full of clothes at the condo like he did last year!

There are certain cooking and kitchen items of my own that I like to take with me, so I have begun gathering them on the dining room table.

The next few days will be spent putting away our Christmas decorations and preparing things around the house for our absence. This year we will not check out until April 21st which means we will spend Easter in Florida. I am anxious to arrive in the land where the grass is green, the trees have leaves and the flowers are blooming!!
